Murad Tiryakioğlu graduated from Afyon Kocatepe University with a BA and an MA in Economics and an MBA in Business Administration. He received his PhD from the same university with a dissertation on the use of technology transfer as a strategic resource for the acquisition of technological capabilities. Tiryakioğlu, who has been working in the department of Economics in Afyon Kocatepe University since August 2001, has experience in social responsibility projects related to disaster planning. He has been a disaster volunteer for Afyonkarahisar Disaster and Emergency Management Office since 2007 and works for Disaster Awareness Association founded in 2013 by Tiryakioglu. His academic study areas focus on economic and social development, social innovation and predominantly green growth, humanitarian innovation, and economic impacts of disasters in recent years.
Tiryakioglu continues his efforts to establish a “Platform for Development with Disasters” with the vision he gained from his edited book called “Development with Disasters: Experience, Policies and Prospects” (2016) and a forthcoming book under the name of “Social, Sectoral and Regional Dimensions of Development with Disasters
